News story after news story, report after report, have been published identifying all the atrocities committed by Israelis. Individuals around the world cry out for justice for the Palestinians and yet, almost three years later, no one with power has done anything to bring an end to the madness. Is anyone in any of the world’s governments actually paying attention?

Julie, I wonder the exact same thing every day. Extraordinary isn’t it, that literally there’s no government response.

You’re so right. It’s amazing that the civilians all over the world know what’s going on but the people we elected to represent us totally ignore what’s happening and what their constituents are demanding. This has to be the first question asked in every election campaign worldwide.

Leaf Seligman's avatar

I agree. So frustrating because so many candidates dodge the questions.

The silence from the governments and the silence from all main stream

Media need to be held to account. The general public, on the whole see it, some us are screaming loudly about it , some refuse to engage… god knows why!! But the disconnect between the people and the leaders is astonishing and we are NOT ANGRY ENOUGH about it!!! We need to step up our demands , we need to more direct action and we need to commit to holding these immoral leaders to account every single day.

It’s exhausting… it’s taking its toll on normal people , how can we even begin to imagine how the Palestinians are functioning from day to day. Their resilience and steadfastness is something we will never fully appreciate.

We must not stop supporting them until this madness ends.

I appreciate your frustrations, Betty. By getting involved in a number of advocacy groups here in Canada, I felt some of my frustrations alleviate. Doing things in groups gives you encouragement when you feel helpless. I’ve listed links to some of the groups I’ve found very good and effective in garnering attention from politicians and the media. I don’t know where you’re located, but I know several of these groups are international, so if you’re in the US, they probably have the same groups there. I also know there are many anti-Zionist advocacy organizations, which will have many active campaigns that may be of interest. Hope this helps a little.

Julie , can I just start by firstly saying thankyou so much for taking the time to reach out to me and for including these links . How kind of you to do that . There are some that I haven’t heard of so I will definitely take a look at those .

I am over in Scotland, and I am involved with a collective called M/others Against Genocide Scotland , and if truth be told it saved me! I felt I was losing my mind, surrounded by people who didn’t want to do any thing.

I reached out to several Palestinian families too and they keep me aware of what is actually happening in reality where they are. And it’s horrific.

I also am involved in the BDS movement with SPSC, and take some Direct Action too .

We also protest with the DOJ (defend our juries ) and you can see the recent action we are now doing to protest the silencing of Activists in our country on YouTube @Defend Our Juries.

I am a member of action network , too but the others you have sent links to are new to me Julie, so there’s always so much to explore , especially as things changes and evolve

. It’s hard to believe this genocide has been allowed to continue before the world for almost 3 years, and nothing has been done to stop it.

I also have a Canadian friend who I will share these links with Julie.

I really appreciate what you say , around finding ways to help and how taking action can alleviate our frustrations a little.

I honestly don’t think I would have managed without the support of the new activist friends I have met.

We need to start building strong communities of good people to help us through this nightmare time in our world .

Take good care of yourself.

Many thanks for your support Julie.

Recieved with gratitude.

I love all things British! And Irish. Many of my ancestors came from England and Wales. I’ve followed many British programs on TV for years as well as many authors. Far better than North America.

You sure have a lot going on! Good for you! It really does help you as well as the people you’re supporting. I’ve met more wonderful people here on Substack than anywhere else, so many have a maturity that I don’t find as much on Facebook. Suggest to your friend here in Canada to also check out Palestinian advocacy groups here, some of them are quite active, as well as anti-Zionist Jewish groups like IJV. They have a lot of campaigns going on right now. Non-Jewish people can join as visitors. On Facebook, there’s an activist that I follow, Yves Engler as well as a doctor, Yipeng Ge and Senator Yuen Pau Woo that write some interesting columns. Fareed Khan on YouTube is also good.

Hope things continue to go well for you! Take good care!

Julie, apologies for the delay in replying to your message.

I’m just getting to grips with Substack as I’m relatively new to posting on comments.

I will definitely pass on the info to my Canadian friend , and will also check the YouTube referral. I don’t use Facebook , although I have an account.. I keep meaning to close it down since Instagram and Facebook merged … I only use Insta but everything I post appears I. Facebook no matter how I change my settings .!

Please don’t believe all we have been taught about Britain… I am just realising now that we have been lied to my whole life and that not much of Britain is great! It’s colonialist , it’s empire and it’s fast becoming clear that we are now facist in our government, owned by Israel.

The shame I feel everyday is unbearable, and I can only liken it to how many Americans feel under Trump… there’s the people, the majority decent and then there’s the leaders … vile and corrupt!

So I’m among it all we do what we can knowing we will face arrest, being silenced and potentially have our homes raided and can even be at risk of prison… this is what Britain has become, but you won’t hear it on the main stream news.

Please look at the Defend Our Juries on YouTube and see what is happening here.

And check out Owen Jones on YouTube and here on Substack … he is one of our most open and honest journalist, who stands with Palestine and calls out the politicians .

Take care Julie, it’s so lovely to connect with you.

What impresses about Qureshi's writing is not just her humanism and her relentless care for justice, but a great capacity for analysis and even more for a synthesis. It is she and people like her that offer a glimpse pf hope in this dark and painful moment. I have no words to express my appreciation for what she does, time after time after.

Thank you for this cogent description of ongoing war crimes and the attempted erasure of evidence. As a Jewish person, I wish more Jews would acknowledge the hypocrisy of Never Forgot being applied exclusively to the Nazi Holocaust and not to the Palestinian genocide. The attempt to destroy the Palestinian people defiles Judaism. Ironically, the actions of the Israeli government and settlers is what threatens the soul of Judaism. Why fight so hard to preserve a (colonial) state when that guts the religion by violating its essence. Deuteronomy states: choose life. Micah instructs: choose mercy, justice, humility. Not genocide.

We, the people, who stand up for humanity, need to rise up and to overthrow our Governments across the world who support this horrendous genocide committed by Israel and aided by the US. Israel is acting with impunity and has been since its creation in 1948. They ignore international law and get away with murder every single day across the Middle East. Great article. Thank you for your brilliant analysis Robina.

This is an incredibly important and moving article.

For others reading here: Prior to the ongoing Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, in previous years, going back to at least 2009 if not 2008, Palestinians would themselves collect the rubble of their Israeli-destroyed homes and buildings—in order to reuse it in construction, because Israel had put Gaza under total blockade (lockdown) from 2007 on.

For sure they are covering up their crimes (or maybe they just don’t even care about Palestinian remains - that is how far gone they are). Remember when they killed drivers of an ambulance and then other rescue teams came to help and they were killed as well - then the Israelis buried the ambulances and bodies and cemented over all of it
